Los Carpenter
We are the Carpenters, Steve, Kay, Natasha and Benjamin. We live
in Mexico City, Mexico and participate in a church planting ministry
through Christian Missionary Fellowship International.
We have lived in Latin America since April 1994 and have ministered
in Mexico City since April 1995. Our first term (94-97) focused on
language learning during the first year and church planting the next
three years. 1995 through 1997 we participated in establishing La
Iglesia Cristiana del Norte (Northside Christian Church) or ICN.
1998 and part of 1999 was spent on furlough in Johnson City, TN.
Upon our return in August of 1999 we continued in ministry with ICN
in the area's of leadership, cell group development and the
discipleship tract.
In July 2004 we began another year of furlough in East Tennessee,
returning to Mexico City in August 2005. This term we are helping
ICN with their building program and are involved at a leadership
level. We are also heavily involved in establishing La Iglesia
Cristiana Las Aguilas. This new church plant is an important part of
our focus this term.
Joy is a vibrant young Mexican woman who joined our church planting team in December
2005. Joy brings a great deal of experience with her to our ministry. She brings
experience as a young person living on the streets of Mexico City and saved through a
street ministry. Joy attended three years of Bible college in Argentina and was then
involved in six and a half years of ministry to kids on the streets of Mexico City.
At this time Joy is very active in the Aguilas church plant (ICA), is a faithful helper in ICN
and has developed quite a personal ministry that goes beyond what we had imagined for
her. Joy is responsible for the youth ministry at ICA and leads a small group at both ICN
and ICA. Joy is also responsible for the small book store for both churches. Joy is a part
of the leadership team at ICN and ICA.
Mike is a graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN and is currently taking
course work at Fuller Theological Seminary in southern California. Mike has served in
various congregations as youth minister and serving in Mexico City in both music and
youth ministries. His goal is to train up youth to lead in the music ministry and in the youth
ministry.
